2026 Evolutionary ITF Australia

National Championships

Postponed until further notice

An Umpire Seminar will replace this event to train highly skilled referees for the Nationals to be held later this year.

Two taekwondo fighters in white uniforms, protective gear, and helmets engaged in a sparring match, with one executing a high kick.

The 2026 EITF National Championships will be held in Hobart, Tasmania at a date to be decided.

Unfortunately, at this point the support from mainland ITF practitioners is insufficient to genuinely warrant holding the March 22nd event . A significant effort will be put into generating more support for a National Championships later in 2026.

Instead of the March 22nd championship, the Umpire course planned for Saturday 21st will be expanded to train students in the rules of competition of Evolutionary ITF Taekwon-Do over the entire weekend to ensure there are quality umpires to officiate at any future event and thereby provide an impartial and safe competition.

The course will be presented by Master Steven Weston, who has officiated at several World Championships, oversaw the Open ITF HQ World Championships and World Cup in the Netherlands in 2017 as Chair of ITF HQ Korea and has been the Chair of a number of ITF National organisations and has organised both National and Oceanic championships.

The course will be held from 1pm-5pm on Saturday 21st March 2026 and 9am-4pm on Sunday 22nd March 2026 at the Southern ITF Taekwon-Do Dojang at the New Town Sports Precinct on New Town Rd. New Town, Hobart

I suggest most people wear their Doboks for this training since we will use anyone involved to act as competitors for those people judging or refereeing. Indeed if students wish to act as competitors but not enrol for the course they would be welcome to attend and help out. I'll also address all the ancillary tasks that go with running an event such as adjusting equipment for power and special techniques and marshalling for patterns and sparring.
